Citizens Data Agency Event – Demystifying Your Data with Tactical Tech

Join us for our second Citizens Data Agency event with Louise Hisayasu, who will run a workshop learning about how to demystify your data. The workshop will define and explore various types of “data” which are commonly shared and collected online. There will be group activities which encourage participants to talk openly about data concerns, investigate browser history, and deny unnecessary app permissions on their smartphones.

Speaker Profile:

Louise Hisayasu is Senior Project Coordinator on The Glass Room, a public intervention that aims to demystify technology through creative, thought-provoking, self-learning exhibitions.

Tactical Tech: Tactical Tech is an international NGO that for over 20 years, has engaged with citizens and civil-society organisations to explore and mitigate the impacts of technology on society. Tactical Tech has co-created bold and forward-looking experiences, interventions and educational offerings that invite people to reflect critically on how technology impacts our lives and the world we live in. To do so, they collaborate with partners and civil society organisations worldwide with whom they work at the intersection of technology, research, design and art on projects that provoke critical thinking and debate. How do digital technologies impact the way we get informed and make decisions? How can we as a society face the ‘side-effects’ of an increasingly tech and data-driven world?

The event will be held online, please register to receive a link to join.

Due to this being an interactive workshop, there are only 25 spaces available.

*Please note the event will be recorded*

About Citizens Data Agency

The Citizens Data Agency research project is running monthly public events exploring data, citizen-led privacy, the impact of emerging technologies on citizens’ data and alternative data governance. We hope the events will be an opportunity to explore these topics through inspiring projects and be an opportunity to learn more about how citizens can be empowered to protect their privacy and data. The events are free to attend and open to everyone.
