Prof Martyn Evans, MMU Design

Martyn Evans is Professor of Design and Director of Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University. His research harnesses the potential of design as a catalyst for innovation. As a trained product designer he explores the approaches designers use to consider the future, in particular their ability to envision potential social, cultural, technological and economic futures. He is particularly interested in how design adds value to, and drives innovation in, product, service and policy contexts. Current research explores the societal and economic benefit of design to the UK and the effective use of designerly approaches in maker enterprises. Martyn is a member of the AHRC Advisory Board and Council for Higher Education in Art & Design Research Alliance Strategy Group.
