ResearchWorkshopDynamic Wall Visualisations
Build your own tangible data visualisation using modular motor and light blocks
Do you or your organisation hold data that you’d like to visualise in an engaging and dynamic way?
Would you like to move data away from digital screens to physical and dynamic public spaces?
Do you have ideas about or would like to explore physical materials that can be used to represent data?
This workshop aims to investigate and explore new physical ways of representing data on large scale wall spaces using dynamic kits and a range of materials. We will show some brand new physical data visualisation prototypes with test data to explore how these prototypes may be used and with which audiences and data. You will be able to build your own tangible data visualisations using modular motor and light blocks and explore a series of static as well as dynamic data sets with the modular data blocks to make your own dynamic data visualisations. We will be using a range of different materials, mechanisms and tools to translate data into relevant, engaging and playful displays and discuss potential future developments and visions for use of such a system.
This workshop will be held on 7th August at 1:30 – 4:00pm at InSpace, Potterrow, EH8 9YL and is supported by Edinburgh Futures Institute. Tickets are free but places limited please sign up via Eventbrite.
