For forty years The Fruitmarket Gallery has been a key part of Scotland’s cultural landscape, showing world class modern and contemporary art to ever-increasing audiences. We have a strong track record; a compelling artistic vision; an international reputation for ambitious and high quality visual arts programming; a developing expertise in working in partnership across artforms; and an enthusiastic and expanding audience.

The Fruitmarket Gallery has partnered successfully with Design Informatics on a number of past and ongoing projects, including the procuring of Wallscope as an industry partner in a 6 month pilot project in 2015. That project sought to encourage a deeper engagement with our programmes through the creation of a semantic service attached to our website to demonstrate dynamically linking our content with DBPedia and other external sources.

We were pleased to appoint Professor Chris Speed Chair of Design Informatics at the University of Edinburgh to our Board of Trustees in September 2017 to embed this important digital partnership at the top of the organisation.

We are now working together as a lead partner in a Creative Informatics R&D Partnership, which will be hosted by the University of Edinburgh in partnership with Edinburgh Napier University, CodeBase, Creative Edinburgh and a range of industry partners and we look forward to playing an active part in the programme.
