Part-Time, 21 hours per week

Fixed-term until 30 September 2025

 

The post involves developing and creating physical and electronic/software-based prototypes for use in field studies/ethnographic research, and exhibition to the public and stakeholders. The post holder will work closely with the lead investigators and other research staff to develop fully working prototypes that support engagement, adoption and exposition of decentralised technologies. The post holder will work closely with the Postdoctoral Research Associate in the ethnographic work that will inform the development of any prototypes.

The post holder will be expected to carry out the design and development of technical prototypes as minimum viable products. The post holder will work closely with the lead investigators and other research staff to develop the research into fully working prototypes for research studies and workshops.
Experience of product / interaction design and electronics is essential for this post, with some insights into software to support integration. Overall direction and supervision will be provided by senior colleagues, but the post holder will work independently and be responsible for design and implementation decisions.
Applicants should have a first or upper second-class degree in product design, engineering, computer science or related subjects. Experience in the technical development of digital technology is essential. The post-holder will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and demonstrable experience of successful project management and working as part of a team. Experience of block chain technologies is desirable.
