We are recruiting: Design Informatics Research Software Engineer
Come and work at the Institute for Design Informatics
Design Informatics is seeking a Research Software Engineer.
Our ideal candidate will support innovation through design and application of data driven technologies across the Internet of Things, cryptocurrencies and speculative design.
This exciting post as Research Software Engineer in the Institute for Design Informatics offers an opportunity to work with leading designers and researchers to experiment and explore present and future technologies that give the public, industry, and academics a glimpse of how data can support new human-centred products and services.
The post will support staff and project partners in the development of prototype “data driven innovation” products and services, while taking overall responsibility for the management of the back-end infrastructure, and software assets, of the Institute for Design Informatics.
The post holder will take a leading role in the detailed planning, co-ordination and completion of multiple phases of the work for multiple multidisciplinary projects; developing prototypes of data driven innovation products and supporting the team to create exhibition-ready pieces for (e.g.) Dutch Design Week and the new Bayes Centre.
The post holder will work closely with the lead investigators to understand the potentials for public engagement around data driven innovation, in particular IoT, FinTech and data science. Experience of technical development of both front- and back-end systems is essential, as the post holder will be tasked with supporting the technological aspects of complex projects and coordinating the work of other software developers.
Experience in a DevOps environment, and an understanding of configuration management/containerisation technologies (eg Puppet/Docker/VMware) is highly desirable.
