Bjorn Ross, Lecturer in Computational Social Science

Dr Björn Ross is Lecturer in Computational Social Science at the University of Edinburgh School of Informatics. In his research, he primarily uses computational methods from agent-based modelling, natural language processing and social network analysis to study social media and related technologies. His interest in design informatics includes topics such as the design of effective countermeasures for the spread of misinformation and abusive language online, or how conversational agents can be designed to support emergency management on social media.

At the University of Edinburgh, Björn is a co-director of the SMASH group, part of the management team of the CDT in NLP and an affiliate member of Design Informatics. Before working here, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where he also completed his PhD.
