Bronwyn Jones, Postdoctoral Research Associate

Bronwyn Jones is a social scientist and journalist who splits her time between researching data and artificial intelligence (AI) in news production and reporting for BBC News. She is interested in understanding the implications of emerging data-driven technologies for media and communications and contributing to the design of public interest-driven socio-technical systems.
Bronwyn is currently exploring how public service media (PSM) might develop and deploy value-aligned data-driven technologies to deliver public value. She is also working on the EPSRC-funded project Intelligible Cloud and Edge AI (ICE-AI) with PETRAS National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity.
She completed her PhD in Journalism and Technology at Liverpool John Moores University and her BA Hons in European Studies at Durham University. Bronwyn has 14 years journalistic experience covering regional and international affairs in English, French and Italian.
