Jenny Long, PhD Candidate
Jenny Long is a PhD student in Design Informatics and Vishub at the University of Edinburgh. Her research centres on data representation, challenging societal biases through feminist design methodologies. She worked as a Digital Research Ambassador at the Digital Research Services prior to starting her PhD. Jenny holds an MA in Design Informatics and a BA in Painting. Her master’s project was recognised as the Best Small Data-Driven Project in the CDCS Digital Research Prize.
Her interests include:
- Data visualisation, focusing on physical and qualitative representation
- Human-Computer Interaction, highlighting participatory design
- Data feminism and feminist design methodologies
- Promoting the discovery of unconscious biases and raising awareness
