Jessica Armstrong, Research Projects Producer - Design Informatics
Jessica is the interim Research Projects Producer for Design Informatics covering the post and activity in 2021-22 for Jane Macdonald.In this role, she designs and delivers events and exhibitions for the Institute and oversees these and other activities at Inspace Gallery as well as coordinating content on the DI and Inspace websites and other online channels.Jessica has supported and produced a number of projects and activities since joining the team in February 2021. This activity includes:
- delivering six exhibitions on Inspace City Screen during covid-19 lockdowns, namely:
- coordinating the Telling Tales of Engagement commissioned artists alongside Institute co-director Prof Chris Speed. This work is inspired by the research project work of Oxchain. Here she is designing an event and content that will bring the research and commissioned work to life.
- working with the project team to develop a programme of activity for the research project Centre, DECaDE.
Prior to joining the Institute through Edinburgh College of Art, Jessica worked as a freelance creative producer and has worked on projects with Design Informatics, including producing the Institutes participation at the Dutch Design Week (DDW) in Eindhoven 2020, and programming and producing Creative Informatics Centre’s first Innovation Showcase and online event in June 2020. Her work spans the creative industries, academia (including working with the University of Edinburgh Business School), corporate, start ups and the third sector. Jessica is an active member and Steering Group Chair at Creative Edinburgh and is a Trustee at NEoN Digital Arts Festival in Dundee. She also mentors and coaches ambitious creatives and young people through programmes at Creative Edinburgh, Move On and the Super Power Agency.
