
Liquan Chai, PhD Candidate
Liquan Chai is a PhD student in the School of Design, ECA, supervised by Dr Dave Murray-Rust and Dr Maria Wolters. Liquan focuses on health informatics and uses human-centric approaches (mixed methods) to design digital artefacts to address problems between patients and health services.
Previously, Liquan received an MSc in Design Informatics (with distinction), and a Master of Informatics (first-class) in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. His background includes human factors, cognitive science, and natural language processing.
His research interests include:
- Health care accessibility
- Patient-provider and patient-doctor communication
- Computer assistive learning
- Designing and evaluating conversational systems
