Creative IndustriesEventResearchWorkshopOpen Innovation Factory: Rethinking Policy for the Creative Economy
Join us for this engaging online event that inspires participants to think about how innovation policy can be opened up so that creative practitioners can more effectively and easily leverage what this vital policy area has to offer for their day-to-day work.
To quote from ekip’s overview of tools and methods, “In complex areas of innovation and development, growth does not arise from a single point but from interactions between many actors in an ecosystem. To build capacity for and to be able to scale, we need to build strategic competence and strategic partnerships in a multi-stakeholder environment.” How can creative sectors leverage the power of innovation while ensuring that cultural values remain central to policy discourse? How do creatives overcome fragmented ecosystems to realise the benefits of research and innovation funding and other resources? Perhaps most importantly, how do the cultural and creative sectors rise above the ingrained perception that innovation is the sole preserve of science and technology in order to create a more inclusive innovation ecosystem?
This Open Innovation Factory event is presented by researchers from the University of Edinburgh as part of ekip, the European Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries Policy Platform, an Horizon Europe funded project. Ekip focuses on how open innovation ecosystems can be leveraged to support diverse and inclusive development of immersive and convergent technologies through a strong network of networks across Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) in Europe and beyond.
