Welcome to our new IDI Masters and PhD students!

Earlier this month we were delighted to welcome our newest students to Design Informatics.

Over 80 new masters’ students, from both design and computer science backgrounds have joined us to begin their postgraduate studies in Design Informatics, exploring data as a medium for design, and for shaping the world around us. They are already underway with the programme, and you’ll be able to see more on them and their developing work next year in our annual show, showcasing exciting ideas and prototypes – watch this space for more on that in the spring. You can read more about the year-long masters, and previous students’ experience here.

We also welcomed 14 new PhD students to the Designing Responsible Natural Language Processing (NLP) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT). They are embarking on an exciting 4-year programme exploring this crucial area of AI and machine learning. Our students work closely with real-world applications of NLP during their studies, so we are particularly pleased to welcome our first industry-supported students this year,  one supported by Aberdeen Group PLC through the Centre for Investing Innovation, and one supported by G-Research. If you’d like to talk to us about partnership or PhD sponsorship opportunities, do get in touch. You can also read more about the CDT, our current students, and details of how to apply when we reopen for applications later in the year, here.
